My grandfather's Longines had been sitting unworn for close to twelve years. I brought it to Lestari Tempo after reading about them in a collector forum. The intake process was thorough — photos, a written description of what they found, and a clear quote before anything started. It came back running well within spec. The timing report was a nice touch; I hadn't expected that level of detail.

I was hesitant to leave a vintage Omega with anyone I hadn't met before, but the way Lestari Tempo communicated from the first message put me at ease. They asked sensible questions, were clear about what the case polishing would and wouldn't do for a watch of that age, and delivered exactly what they described. No surprises on the invoice.

Brought in a Seiko that belonged to my late father. The movement service took about four weeks — a little longer than I expected, but they explained partway through that they'd found more corrosion than anticipated and wanted to be thorough. I appreciated being told rather than discovering it later. The watch runs properly for the first time in years.

The workshop is small but clearly set up properly. Ahmad Razif walked me through what he found during the intake assessment — I hadn't expected that level of explanation, but it was genuinely useful. The movement service on my IWC was done without any unexpected add-ons. Good communication throughout.

I sent a watch in by registered post from outside KL — they were helpful in guiding the packaging and confirmed receipt quickly. The movement service was handled well and returned with a clear record of what was done. Would have appreciated slightly more frequent updates mid-service, but the end result was what they said it would be.

I've used two other watch repair shops in KL before coming to Lestari Tempo. The difference is in what they document. Previous shops gave me a watch back with no explanation of what they'd actually done inside. Here I received a written record and a timing sheet. That matters when you're dealing with something you intend to pass down.

Case Studies

Selected client journeys

Case Study 01 — Heritage Restoration

The situation

A 1968 Tissot pocket watch, inherited without any service history. The crown was stiff, the mainspring gave resistance on winding but the watch would not run past a few minutes. The case had accumulated surface oxidation across the lugs.

The work

Full movement service — the mainspring was found to be set with a shallow coil from an earlier incorrect winding, and the cannon pinion had loosened. Both were addressed. Case surface treatment was conservation-only at the client's request: marks reduced, oxidation cleaned, geometry preserved.

The outcome

Movement running at +8 seconds per day in dial-up position. Full power reserve restored. Case returned with a written condition report covering the dial, hands, case, and movement state. Timeline: 14 weeks.

"I didn't expect them to find the cannon pinion issue — previous shops had missed it entirely. That's what was causing the timekeeping to drift."

Case Study 02 — Movement Service

The situation

A daily-worn Grand Seiko that had last been serviced seven years prior. The owner noticed the power reserve had shortened and the accuracy was inconsistent across positions — sometimes +20, sometimes −5 over the same day.

The work

Full disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning. On inspection, the original mainspring showed early metal fatigue — not yet broken but set with reduced tension. Replaced with a correct specification spring. Balance pivot ends were re-lubricated individually. Multi-position regulation across six days post-assembly.

The outcome

Rate variance reduced to within ±6 seconds across all measured positions. Full power reserve restored. Timing report issued on return. Timeline: 4 weeks.

"The timing sheet they sent was more detailed than anything I've seen from authorised service centres. And it cost less."

Case Study 03 — Case Polishing

The situation

A 1990s Rolex Datejust acquired second-hand with a case that had been over-polished at some point — the brushed centre links had been buffed smooth and the lug angles softened. The owner wanted selective restoration rather than another round of full polishing.

The work

Case fully disassembled. Brushed surfaces re-grained with period-correct directionality using progressive abrasives. Polished bevels treated separately. Owner approved all zones before treatment began. Basic water resistance check on reassembly.

The outcome

Brushing restored to appropriate texture without further loss of metal. Lug geometry improved. Water resistance confirmed at 5 bar. Timeline: 2.5 weeks.

"I specifically asked them not to touch the dial area and they respected that completely. The case work is subtle — exactly what a piece like this needs."
